About Patty

My name is Patricia Rich and I'm a

Certified IFS Therapist and Approved Consultant,

AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor, and

Certified Clini-Coach™

I have a passion for bringing compassion to the parts of ourselves that may be sexually burdened, exiled, oppressed or neglected. I teach a process that clears a pathway toward consensual, authentic, fulfilling and expansive sexual Self-expression.

I began teaching about Self-Led Sexuality at national conferences several years ago and have since been developing an innovative framework for sexual healing, pleasure and empowerment, have taught for the IFS Institute Online Continuity Program, presented workshops internationally, and now offer coaching and consultation as well as therapy.

I welcome diverse folks including those who are single, coupled, poly, LGBTQIA*, conservative,  kinky, young adult to advanced ages, BIPOC, immigrants and more.

Why Am I Offering This

Over the years, as I've crafted an integrative model anchored in IFS, I've been deeply moved by the growing desire for a safe space to delve into sexuality. While one-on-one sessions offer valuable insights, I've discovered the profound benefits of group exploration:

✔ A sense of shared understanding, easing the burden of sexual challenges

✔ Compassionate support that chips away at shame and embarrassment

✔ Enhanced communication skills nurtured within a supportive community

✔ Genuine appreciation for the diverse tapestry of human experiences

✔ Opportunities to practice self-compassion and set healthy boundaries

✔ A collective acknowledgment of the societal forces shaping our sexual identities

✔ A renewed sense of hope and empowerment on the journey to sexual wellness

✔ Joyful moments of self-discovery and authentic expression

✔ Accessible pricing, making healing more attainable for all

To deepen our connection and enrich the group experience, I'm excited to introduce weekly journaling sessions, providing personalized guidance and support along the way.

Testimonials

“Patty Rich expertly guides members in her BLISS groups to explore ALL sexual parts that so commonly carry burdens from external and internal sources. Her groups, using the IFS model as a springboard, quickly provide a safe space where members make deep and healing inner connections."

Daniel A Moss, PhD, IFS Therapist

“I feel more confident in asking for what I want, sexually or otherwise. I'm also finding it easier to set boundaries for myself."

FAQ

Do I have to tell people my super private stuff?

The beauty of IFS is that we can speak for our parts and spend time internally with our system without needing to disclose the details of what we are remembering or experiencing. You are not required to do anything that does not feel safe or wise. You will be invited, however, to share some level of vulnerability, such as speaking for  the protectors who say No to more disclosure.

Do I have to be IFS Level One trained?

No, you do not need to have formal training from the  IFS Institute to participate. However, you will be asked whether you have had significant experience with the model such as attending a substantive introductory workshop and practice unblending and speaking for, not from Parts. This is so that there is a common language and way of relating as a starting point for this dive into BLISS.

Will IFS CE's be offered?

Application has been made but not yet approved for up to 13 IFS Institute CE credits.

Learning Objectives:

1. To use the 6 F's to recognize the parts of the internal system that may become activated in relation to sexual topics.

2. To interview parts to learn the roles that parts take on to either utilize or prevent the resource of sexuality.

3. To engage the healing steps to identify the  individual and collective burdens often taken on through socialization and lived experience which shape adult sexuality.

4. To explore Internal Consent as a way to facilitate the setting of safe and appropriate boundaries including working with polarized protectors.

5. To recognize the importance of pleasure and sensuality to a sense of well-being and fulfillment, and how we can create space for clients to explore these within their own values frameworks.

6. To unblend parts and access Self qualities that may be experienced as sexual, and to consider how Self-Led Sexuality differs from Part-Led Sexuality.

Will sessions be recorded?

The sessions will be recorded during teaching, meditations, and demos. These portions will be posted in a private portal  for the duration of the program.  These recordings are only to be watched by other group members who are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all participants.

Is this a synchronous group?

Yes, this group will take place on Zoom and you are requested to be fully present (e.g. screen on, not multitasking, private location) in order to create a well held space for all.

Will Patty be explaining her whole model?

While the Six S's of Sexual Self Energy will frame the experience and some additional concepts such as Internal Consent will be explored, this is NOT primarily a didactic format, but rather an experiential exploration. HOWEVER, you can now read Patty's chapter on Self-Led Sexuality in Altogether Us, in which she lays out the model in more detail.

Will there be homework?

You will be asked to do some reflective journaling  before and after the sessions, to read a chapter, and watch a few short videos. There is suggested Homeplay between sessions.

I'm interested but some of the details don't work for me this time around.

Feel free to fill out the application anyway, indicating your barriers and/or your  interest in a future round of this type of group. You can also join Patty's private FB group and get a free explainer of The Six 6's of Sexual Self Energy here.
